We use the NPSP Platform. When a Delegate record creates a new Contact, how can I prevent a new Contact record from being created when the ‘Company’ is not Blank. I want to force the User to lookup the Account to find the company listed on the Delegate record. If no Account record is found, create a new one. At least a checkbox that could turn this on/off for each Org using ES. Let us decide.
The two criteria we use at minimum to create an Organization Account record are the Company Name and County (main office), both of which are on the Delegate record. If the Company name is blank, I am fine with it creating a Household record.
I don’t need EventSpark to match Accounts or anything like that. Our staff can do it manually, but they are often just too lazy to take the time. I just want like a Validation Rule that says if the Company field is not null, then the Contact cannot be created with a null Account. Seems pretty simple to me but I know ES has a lot of other things going on too.
One thing I did notice on the Delegate Create Contact window is that the Account field can lookup the Account, but unlike the regular create Contact windows elsewhere in Salesforce, it does not allow for Account to be created from that Lookup. You have to close the window and create the New Account and then come back and try the create Contact again. Now when you do the lookup on Account and it is there. In the attached image, see the + New Account at the bottom when the Account search did not find the Account? That’s all I want. It’s not automated. It’s all manual (I think).
